Sample Itinerary in Orlando

June 30, 2016

Now that summer is here and school is out, many people are visiting Orlando for longer periods of time. Two to three weeks can seem like a long trip, but Orlando has so much to offer that we must manage our time carefully to ensure we get to experience it all and do so without exhausting ourselves. We have prepared a few tips to help you better plan your trip:

Pack smart: The summer here is really hot, so you will only need light clothes and maybe a cardigan or jacket to wear inside where the air conditioner is always blasting. If you choose to stay with us at the Hawthorn Lake Buena Vista, you can use our coin-operated laundry facility to do a couple of loads of laundry during your trip, if needed.

Don’t over plan: You don’t want to exhaust yourself by planning a visit to a theme park every day you are here. Schedule a few days off to leisure by our hotel pool, go shopping or visit another attraction that doesn’t take a whole day to explore such as the I-Drive 360 complex.

Sample itinerary: Here’s a sample of how you should plan a 15-day vacation:

  1. Long park day (check what time the park closes to determine which one to visit)
  2. Short park day
  3. Shopping and pool day
  4. Long Park day
  5. Long Park day
  6. Pool day and I-Drive 360
  7. Long Park Day
  8. Water park day and watch a show like Cirque du Solei or Blue Man group
  9. Relaxing day at the spa, playground with kids and light shopping
  10. Day trip do the beach or theme park outside or Orlando like Legoland or Bush Gardens
  11. Long Park day
  12. Day to explore Disney Springs, Universal City Walk, catch a movie or visit Fun Spot
  13. Last park day
  14. Last minute shopping for souvenirs and visiting attraction you were unable to visit so far
  15. Packing, eating out and making sure to arrive early at the airport

Overall: Scheduling time for every single thing can be exhausting and you may be left frustrated if you expected to visit so many attractions and realized you were too tired to honor the schedule you created. Have an idea of the places you want to go, but be more flexible to allow for more down time and deserved rest.

Tips: Visit the Reflections Spa for a soothing massage while the kids get pampered with a princess makeover or pirate takeover. It’s amazing how just a few minutes of total relaxation can completely recharge your energy. Soak the Florida sun with care by always applying sunscreen and drinking plenty of water. Enjoy some pool time with a book or take a nap mid afternoon one day. Your body will thank you. And above all, bring comfortable shoes. You will need them for the endless miles walked at the theme parks.
